isobutyl alcohol
(CH3)2CHCH2OH A colorless liquid that is a by-product of the synthetic production of methanol, boils at 107_C; soluble in water, ether, and alcohol; used as a solvent in paints and lacquers, in organic synthesis, and in resin coatings. Also known as isobutanol; isopropylcarbinol; 2-methyl-l-propanol.
