small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP)
A compound comprising small nuclear RNA (q.v.) and nuclear protein, that is heavily involved in the post-transcriptional processing of mRNA, especially the removal of introns. snRNPs are a major component of spliceosomes (q.v.).
